Frequently Asked Questions

How do the security dues/security patrol work?

The Association uses the security dues to pay for off-duty Ft. Lauderdale Police Department officers to patrol our neighborhood, which adds to the overall police presence and security of the area. We share the costs of the extra patrol with a number of condo and apartment buildings in our neighborhood and in the Galt Mile. The Association security committee works with the other contributing associations and our Police Department liaison to develop a schedule for officer patrols, which varies weekly to ensure broad patrols and coverage.

The Association’s Board of Directors receives a regular report of the individual officers and patrol hours paid. Our security program also pays for rental of police cars that are regularly stationed in the neighborhood, which helps with the visibility of security presence but also allows an officer to quickly respond in a police vehicle if an incident were to arise.

The amount for annual security dues has remained at $400 for non-oceanfront residences and $650 for oceanfront residences for many years now despite increases in the hourly rates paid to the patrol officers.  The security dues pay for the patrol officers as well as other security resources including the on-site police substation, the beach-access ATV and the 24/7 on-site police car.

I pay the security dues. Can I have additional security while I'm away?

If you wish to have additional security for your home while you are away, please fill in and submit our Away Form at least 48 hours before you leave.

I pay the security dues. How do I report an issue to the security patrol?
